History of Wilmington NC 

According to Wikipedia, Wilmington, it was named after Spencer Compton. He was the first earl of Wilmington. The city had been founded in 1730 and had been named Wilmington in 1740. Wilmington is a port city and had a population of 115,45 ( as per the 2020 United States Census). 

During the American Civil War, Wilmington was a major base for the confederate army. It had been recaptured by the Union forces in February 1865 in the Battle of Wilmington.

Besides visiting different places, you can also enjoy the weather on a rainy day. You can take a ride in the city on a rainy day. The Seaview on a rainy day is different than on other days. A cup of coffee is also very enjoyable on a rainy day.

Bellamy Mansion

 It had been designed by architect James F. Post for Dr. John D. Bellamy between 1859 and 1861. This mansion had elements of Greek Revival and Neoclassical styles. You will enjoy visiting this huge mansion on a rainy day. 

Besides these places, there are other places like the Wilmington railroad museum to visit. Also, the cotton exchange downtown should be on your list of places to visit. You can do shopping here besides having free parking.
