This location is named the 1897 Poe House because it was constructed in the year 1897. The home belonged to the E.A. Poe family. The head of the family was Mr. E.A. Poe. E.A. Poe married his wife, Josephine Montague Poe, in 1880. She was originally from Wake County. He placed the deed of the house in her name.
