Go on a shopping spree to support local artisans at Harbor District Market. This place has around 20 masterful vendors displaying their craft. This place used to be a 5/10 cent store in 1917. Now it is a community space for local farmers, entrepreneurs, and artisans. You will be sure to find the best locally-made goods right here in this shopping district.

North Carolina Estuarium

On the Pamlico River sits the North Carolina Estuarium. This museum includes more than 200 exhibits from artwork to artifacts. The Tar-Pamlico River and Pamlico Sound make up one of America’s largest estuaries. It is their mission to educate visitors about the importance of ecology here. Be prepared to be awed by an aquarium, interactive maps, and other displays. There is also a nice boardwalk to stroll along the Pamlico River just outside.

The Turnage Theatre is a historical icon at the Arts of the Pamlico. This place features artistic performances and cultural activities. Watch a movie, play, comedy show, or live music. Other programs include art shows, science fairs, and more.

Go Camping at Goose Creek State Park

While small, Goose Creek is a beautiful state park on the riverbank. The campground has spacious sites in a grassy area so you can see the stars at night. This nature area is tranquil with large mossy oak trees and waterside views. The park is open for day use as well. You will find many opportunities for kayaking, fishing, and hiking. There must be things to do around ECU, so I started asking other students. They kept telling me to graduate and move away! This inspired me to begin exploring eastern North Carolina and build this website as a showcase of the places to go, sights to see, and things to do all over eastern NC. I have fallen in love with this region and started taking up roots here. After graduating, I didn't move away - I bought a house here and continue to explore eastern North Carolina.
