You can locate Howard’s Pub & Raw Bar in Ocracoke Island, North Carolina by taking the Irvin Garrish Highway, which takes you straight there.
An unincorporated town that’s located at the end of Ocracoke Island within Hyde County, North Carolina. In 2010, it had a population of only 948 people, but as of 2014, the population is now sitting at around 591. The town is also known to be where the infamous pirate Black Beard died around 1718.
In September 2019, the island was struck by Hurricane Dorian. Which resulted in it being closed off to visitors for repairs to the roads and dune line. Around December of that same year, access was restored.
Howard’s Pub & Raw Bar is known to cater to everyone. With a casual and comfortable dress code. The place can be enjoyed with either family, friends, or just by yourself. With the pub being open from early spring to late fall (sometimes).
The pub has also decorated the place with college pennants, license plates from around the world, and an impressive collection of neon lights to go with it. Also, they’re not afraid to mention that their parking lot is available for bicycles, golf carts, and cars.

The restaurant has a gift shop where you can only purchase short-sleeved shirts at this time. Ranging from sizes Medium and X-large, all of them starting at the price of $23.00. If shirts aren’t your thing, you can also purchase gift cards from here as well.

Ocracoke Preservation Museum
The museum is a non-profit organization dedicated to preserving the island’s history and cultural heritage. It was founded in 1983 and has free admission for all. Since its opening in 1992, they have maintained to share the past with any who is willing to learn about the island itself.
Ocracoke Light Station
The oldest lighthouse in North Carolina that is still in operation since its construction in 1585 after two ships were wrecked while exploring. It’s located at the end of Cape Hatteras and open to the public to come and see It’s open 24 hours, except for holidays, and has no fee. Allowing all to enjoy the grounds when they want.Ocracoke Beaches
If you’re looking to get some sun or dig your toes in the sand. You can go to Ocracoke Beach, which is said to have many access points along the highway and is considered a nice and clean beach with a low crowd as a bonus.
If Ocracoke Beach isn’t on your bucket list, you might consider a visit to the Ocracoke Lifeguard Beach. It’s known to have bonfires on the beach and has a majestic view of the stars at night.
Down Creek Gallery
If the beach or going to a museum isn’t your thing period, then perhaps an art gallery should be on your list of places to visit. Down Creek Gallery is known for displaying both local and fine art that grasp the beauty of the island. Many, artists especially, have found inspiration when they go to visit.
