Head Chef Jacob Cary

Head Chef Jacob Cary opened the restaurant in the spring of 2015 in the heart of downtown Wilmington, just a block from the Cape Fear River. In 2016, the restaurant was named among the best new restaurants in the South by “Southern Living Magazine” and was featured in the "Best Thing I Ever Ate” in 2018.

They were named one of the ten best restaurants in the “South by Southern Living” Magazine in 2019.

Wilmington, North Carolina and Things to Do

A port city and the county seat of New Hanover County. It has a small population of around one-hundred thousand people. It is the eighth-most populated city in the state of North Carolina. This is also a common area for fishermen, of course, mainly due to the area being surrounded by fresh water and seawater.

And there are all sorts of activities and things to see while you're there, waiting for a table...

If you love the beach, then you have to visit Wrightsville Beach. Known as the best surfing spot in the area as well as great for kayaking too. You can enjoy the sparkling water either on the beach or on the waterway, your choice. There are also plenty of beach boutiques you can visit if that strikes your fancy.

Not a fan of the beach? What about battleships then? Battleship North Carolina is a tour where you get to see a WWII Battleship up close and personal. The tour shows nine levels of space, including the mess deck, gun turrets, and sickbay. Why should you miss this chance?

You can locate this historic battleship on Battleship Road in the Historic Downtown Wilmington area.

Considering Pinpoint's elegant dining experience, it's a bold decision to pair the evening with an equally elegant experience of the arts. The Wilson Center is the perfect place to take an evening, and enjoy various Broadway plays, comedy plays, or a symphony concert.

The Wilson Center has hosted quite a few musicals, like the Tony-award-winning musical Kinky boots and Fiddler on the Roof.  As well as being the home of the Wilmington Symphony band. You can locate The Wilson Center on Third Street, also in the Historic Downtown Wilmington area.

Special Events

Pinpoint hosts numerous events throughout the year, including a thanksgiving event, which last year sold out quickly. They also hosted a tasting that served wine and a vegetarian tasting menu as well as other varieties of food in 2019.

Thanksgiving Dinner is hosted every year on the fourth Thursday of November. The menu is served as a family-style meal and is only available for this one night only. Popular with the locals, it’s known to sell out of tickets fast. So, if you want to have thanksgiving at Pinpoint, it’s recommended that you buy a ticket early before they’re sold out.

After getting accepted to ECU, I started looking for things to do in and around Greenville, NC. However, my searches kept taking me to places in South Carolina! There must be things to do around ECU, so I started asking other students. They kept telling me to graduate and move away! This inspired me to begin exploring eastern North Carolina and build this website as a showcase of the places to go, sights to see, and things to do all over eastern NC. I have fallen in love with this region and started taking up roots here. After graduating, I didn't move away - I bought a house here and continue to explore eastern North Carolina.
