Tell Me More!

Nothing sounds like a sweet time between you and the one you love. Like a quaint town with scenic views and dimly lit, high-end restaurants. North Carolina has that and many other ways. To interpret one-on-one time with a significant other.

Come along with us as we take you to a few of North Carolina's most romantic getaway destinations. By the end, you'll be excited to invigorate your love life with some southern charm. Get your notepad out, we're about to school you in destination: love.

Outer Banks

Check-in at White Doe Inn, an antebellum-looking bed and breakfast. That sits by the shores of the Outer Banks. Not sure there's anything more romantic than cuddling up with your honey. And watching the sun rise over the ocean. Not only is the inn a living period-piece. But the accommodations will encourage staying inside or within walking distance.

Being such a short walk to the beach means a fun, relaxing day in the Atlantic. Whether you're having a romantic getaway in February or August. At the bare minimum, you can always listen to the water lapping up onto the sand. This location also means seafood restaurants are plentiful. These fine dining establishments are within walking distance.

To up the bonding game, make an appointment at Windswept Spa and get a couples massage. This could turn into an entire day of pampering, some together and some apart. Nothing speaks to a love language like giving someone space to indulge in self-care. As one guest put it, "Getting a couples massage here during our honeymoon was the icing on the cake. After months of stress, this was what we both needed. It's so quiet, you can really just melt into the moment. My husband and I were in heaven!"

New Bern

Could you have a better setting to get close to your sugar pie than New Bern? The town doubles as the inspiration for the romance novel and movie The Notebook. Nicholas Sparks left a trail of North Carolina sentiments in many of his books. That trail is called the Walk to Remember tour right here across the heart of downtown. This is a big hit if your partner likes history, too.

Since you're going to be spending time in the city, you might as well stay downtown. A conveniently located bed and breakfast is Benjamin Ellis House. Not only is the building a story in itself, but the B&B is also within walking distance of all kinds of fun things. Walk hand in hand and get some shopping done. Take a quick lunch before the main attraction: Tyron Palace.

Close the stay out with a sunset cruise along the Neuse River. The boat tour provides a comfortable seat on the river. With a sweet view of the town, along with the fauna and flora that call the area home.

Rocky Mount

Cabins are great but River and Twine have set up a unique tiny home experience for visitors. In Rocky Mount, a little village has been put together with a string of these small modern homes. Each place is a perfect chance to get close because they come with so many amenities. A stay comes with:

  • Record player and albums
  • Board and lawn games
  • Outdoor seating
  • Access to fire pits

River and Twine is a walk or short drive to a number of breweries, outdoor activities, and restaurants. While you're headed that way, cement this trip in stone, or in the stars, at Space Way Brewing Company. Here, you can let loose a little and get a real taste of the local scene in the taproom. It might help to call it a night afterward so you can get an early start tomorrow.

You'll need it for the Tar River Trail. A strategically designed bridge is just the first part of a journey that could last for miles. Over the river and through the woods to Stonewall Manor we go. Whenever you're ready to go back in time, that is.

Once a profitable plantation in the pre-Civil War era, Stonewall Manor is now a time capsule. Representative of a time long past, you can take a tour now for $5 a person. Private tours can be arranged in advance, so this would be a visually stunning place to propose. Hint, hint!

After getting accepted to ECU, I started looking for things to do in and around Greenville, NC. However, my searches kept taking me to places in South Carolina! There must be things to do around ECU, so I started asking other students. They kept telling me to graduate and move away! This inspired me to begin exploring eastern North Carolina and build this website as a showcase of the places to go, sights to see, and things to do all over eastern NC. I have fallen in love with this region and started taking up roots here. After graduating, I didn't move away - I bought a house here and continue to explore eastern North Carolina.
