In 1964, the first Smithfield's Chicken 'N Bar-B-Q restaurant debuted. This was in the heart of Smithfield, NC under the name Smithfield's.
The building was a large brick box with tin ceilings, fabric umbrellas, and a basin in the dining area. This was so the farmers could clean up before supper. It was situated next to a pre-World War II movie theater.

One of the best sites to learn about the past of the city of Fayetteville is this museum. It is housed in a former railroad station structure. There are classic cars there, as well as a recreation of an old petrol station and other exhibits. The antiques at the museum are superb.
The museum also features historical displays related to the neighborhood. Additionally, there are numerous connections between local, state, and national histories. In a nutshell, a cool location with a ton of background knowledge.
