Summer Festivals in Kinston NC

The Kinston Summerfest is a series of concerts held in three events. It was previously known as Sand in the Streets. This year, 2022, the event dates were June 11, July 9 and August 13th. The concert is presented at Pearson Park by the Downtown Kinston Revitalization (DKR). Several bands provide entertainment for the event, including:

  • Breadwine and Blooze
  • Soul Movement
  • The Main Event Band

Summerfest offers numerous vendors for you to get food and souvenirs. Beer and spirits are sold in plenty and you can bring lawn chairs to sit on. The local bands play a variety of genres, including R&B and funk. The sponsors of Summerfest in Kinston are:

Pride Events

The ENC Pride Events are something that you should experience during your visit. There are a variety of community events and events organized by ENC Pride. Some of these include:

Kinston’s Original Drag Brunch

This event will be held at The Herritage on November 20. Tickets cost $10 and are a donation to ENC Pride. The brunch starts from 12pm to 2 pm. Enjoy entertainment from drag queen legends like Aris Valentine, Cuntagious and Michelle Michaels.

Greenville Charity Drag Brunch

Hosted by Jessica Blackwell, the Greenville Drag Brunch is held at Starlight Cafe. The date set for November 6th. This is a charity event that aims to help those in need. It will go a long way in helping Dr. Jesse R Peel LGBTQ Center.

Thirst Trap Thursday

Thirst Trap Thursdays are presented by Dennis Biancuzzo and Paul Scott Promotions. It is held at the Limelight of Jacksonville NC. It provides an amazing night filled with epic entertainment. The event is organized by Onslow County LGBTQ+ Community Center.

The event is hosted by Naomi Andrade, Michael Ross and Denise Maiori. It takes place every Thursday night. You will experience the ballroom scene vibe at its best. There are incredible performances and competitions to keep you entertained throughout the night.

Historic Farm Days

The Kinston Historic Farm Days event is held by I&I Antique Tractor & Gas Engine Club. The club is known as I&I because it began in 1976 near Alvin, Illinois and next to the Indiana/Illinois state line. They moved around a bit before settling in Penfield, Illinois.

When you attend the Historic Farm Days, it will cost you $10. You can get a multi-day pass for $25. Children aged 10 and younger can attend for free.

Riley's Fall Brawl

This event is a cookoff held at La Grange on November 5th. Registration to participate at the cookoff depends on the various selections, including:

Steak A Only

This costs $160 and you have to be above 13 years old. The fee covers one entry per category.

Steak B Only

Costs $160 and requires a minimum of 13 years old to register. It is valid for only one entry per category.

Steak A & B

You must be 13 years old to register for a fee of $320. It covers one entry for each category.

Ancillaries Only

All those registering have to be 13 years old. The fee covers one entry per category.

African American Music Trail

The Kinston Music Park is a celebration of the African American Musical Heritage. The music trail is held at Spring Hill and South Queen streets. These were once the hub of African American music in the Sugar Hill district. Various successful musicians like Louis Armstrong and Duke Ellington have played the trail. The African American Music Trail brings together lovers of good music and entertainment.

The event is organized by the Community Council for the Arts and takes place from dawn to dusk.

BBQ Fest on the Neuse

The BBQ Neuse Fest is a festival that takes place every year in May. In the Lenoir County area of Kinston, North Carolina. Where locals and visitors can come and celebrate good food, art, music, wine, and beer. With musical guests and a nice park for family and friends to come together and enjoy themselves. By either dancing, enjoying food or drinks, or some of the rides they have there. This festival is also used as an opportunity for other businesses to expand. They sponsor BBQ cooking teams in a cook-out competition. It helps to expand their brand to the festival-goers.

Either you're here to eat amazing food or enjoy good wine. You can also dance to great music, even spend time with the family for a weekend getaway. The Kinston BBQ Festival is the place to be and you shouldn't miss it during your visit to North Carolina.

Chicken Mull Festival, Williamston

This event was held on October 22 at Bear Grass Charter School Campus. This was the 9th year of the event and it included one of the best poultry shows the region has seen. Lots of chicken mull was served at the Chicken Mull Festival. Chicken mull is a dish of parboiled chicken, crackers, broth and eggs. It is topped with as much red and black pepper as you would like. The meal is served with a sleeve of crackers.

Harvest Festival, Clayton

The Clayton Harvest Festival event takes place in four days and attracts 31,000 attendees. You will enjoy carnival rides and a car show and numerous community-based vendors. The festival includes different events, with lots of music and family-friendly fun.

There must be things to do around ECU, so I started asking other students. They kept telling me to graduate and move away! I have fallen in love with this region and started taking up roots here. After graduating, I didn't move away - I bought a house here and continue to explore eastern North Carolina.
