Things to Do in Greenville NC in Summer

Things to Do in Greenville NC in Summer

Little Girl Mid-Air at Trampoline Park

For a place that's only a short drive from the ocean, it would seem like Greenville is a place you leave during the summer to get to the beach. However, for those who are local, you don't always want to fight the hoards of tourists soaking up rays on the sand. Sometimes, you want to be near the action to enjoy the best summer activities.

So, we've come up with a list of indoor and outdoor things to do during the summer that doesn't include a road trip.

Knee Deep Adventures

Even if you're a native of the area, there's always something you can learn about a place when you take a tour. Either from the perspective of the tour guide or new things you haven't noticed after becoming jaded about the area, you're bound to learn a thing or two. That makes a kayaking tour both fun and insightful.

The best part of KDA is that you don't have to be a seasoned expert to take part. You can participate at the entry-level and have a wonderful time. Rentals come with life jackets, paddles, and anything else necessary to kayak or canoe on the river. Never worry about safety, the staff is always nearby.

For $35, you can go for a four-hour drift around a predetermined part of the Tar River. Be sure to check back on their website throughout the year. There are special events such as Night or Dog Paddle.

Splashpoint

If you're looking for more focus on family, this is a seasonal event for everyone! Starting in the first half of June, this water park is open for a limited time. Get there early though, since the park is free it fills up quickly. Only 50 are allowed in Splashpoint at a time. The facility is open Monday through Friday from 10 am to 6 pm. On the weekends, the park closes at 6 pm and opens at noon on Saturday, then at 1 pm on Sunday.

Aside from the normal pool rules, like no running and no glass containers. The Greenville City government advises additional precautions for anyone with infections and bodily irritations.

AND don't forget your sunscreen!

River Park North

There are over 300 acres and a mile of river to take in at River Park North. From bird watching to picnics, there are so many things to do here. You could go every day of the summer and not get bored. Here's a list to get you started:

  • Fossil pit
  • Hiking trails
  • Two fishing piers
  • Volleyball court
  • Five campsites
  • Wildlife observation posts
  • Boat rentals

The park is open all year but from May 1st through August 31st, it opens from 6 am until 8 pm.

Air U Trampoline Park

Not everyone takes to outdoor activities the same. For some, the heat can be a bit much. That doesn't mean the fun has to stop, it just has to take place away from the sun.

Never has there been a better indoor way of getting some of that pent-up energy out than a trampoline park. Getting to jump freely and be loud is the best way to be a kid. It is also the best way to get kids who are tired enough to go to bed, just saying.

But don't take our word for it, here are the words of a satisfied parent...

"I have age-gap children who are very young and older teens. They all find a way to stay entertained. The rates are fantastic, especially for single moms on a budget. My kids are always exhausted by the time we get home. It's perfect for everyone."

Also, if you have any summer birthdays, the Air Trampoline Park is a party center. Your child will be the talk of the new school year after inviting friends to celebrate the day with them here.

Captain Jack's Miniature Golf

Okay, so you can't remove the ocean from all the activities. The best thing about mini-golf at Captain Jack's is that you can play even if it rains. The pirate-themed indoor experience goes up to 18 holes. This place is more than a theme. There are historical artifacts built in it, such as a saddle from two centuries ago.

Feel free to show up with a hunger and thirst. Offered on-site are pizzas, finger foods, and an entire soda bar. Free popcorn comes with each game!

Pricing depends on when you visit. Between 11 am and 4 pm, it only costs $6 per round. From 4 pm to 7 pm, it's $7. From 7 pm through closing time, it's $8 each round. There be no pirate booty to collect on Mondays and Tuesdays, however.

Out and About in Greenville

No matter what you're feeling for the day, there are summer activities all across Greenville to pick from that will keep you busy! From mother nature to trampolines and a whole lot in between, a staycation has never sounded so good.

After getting accepted to ECU, I started looking for things to do in and around Greenville, NC. However, my searches kept taking me to places in South Carolina! There must be things to do around ECU, so I started asking other students. They kept telling me to graduate and move away! This inspired me to begin exploring eastern North Carolina and build this website as a showcase of the places to go, sights to see, and things to do all over eastern NC. I have fallen in love with this region and started taking up roots here. After graduating, I didn't move away - I bought a house here and continue to explore eastern North Carolina.
