Things to Do in Kinston NC During the Holidays

Christmas is back and, oh boy, do we have a list of things for you to do this holiday! Get your stockings ready because this is the gift of gifts. This is things to do in Kinston NC during the holidays.

Christmas Parade @ Queen Street

The City of Kinston stepped up for Christmas downtown in 2022. The city placed orders for 100 feet of skyline decorations to hang over Queen Street. This was near the Community Council for the Arts. Lighted wreaths, lit garlands, and large red bows were hung on the light poles on Queen Street. This on its own looked spectacular!

For 2021, the parade was “lit”. This was in a modern and literal sense! The participants did an excellent job of lighting up their floats and rides. This was for everyone that was watching to enjoy! As you know, a night-time procession is much more fascinating for everyone. It also makes for a lasting impression on the kids!

Only time will tell what Kinston decides to do for the Christmas Parade year after year. I can tell you this though, I won’t be missing it, will you?

Harmony Hall

Harmony Hall is the only historical house that is still standing in Kinston. The home has been occupied by notable historical figures from Lenoir County. It has been this way ever since Jesse Cobb built it in 1772. Harmony Hall served as the home of James Glasgow's office as Secretary of State until 1781. In 1790, again in 1835, and most recently in 1984, the house underwent renovations.

Harmony Hall becomes a Christmas show house in the month of December. It draws visitors from all over the world because it is festively decorated. While in the holiday spirit, you get to experience Kinston's rich history. The decorations are from the 18th century, which ties the historical holidays together.

This elegant masterpiece is located at 109 E. King St. Kinston, NC.

After getting accepted to ECU, I started looking for things to do in and around Greenville, NC. However, my searches kept taking me to places in South Carolina! There must be things to do around ECU, so I started asking other students. They kept telling me to graduate and move away! This inspired me to begin exploring eastern North Carolina and build this website as a showcase of the places to go, sights to see, and things to do all over eastern NC. I have fallen in love with this region and started taking up roots here. After graduating, I didn't move away - I bought a house here and continue to explore eastern North Carolina.
