North Carolina is the 28th largest state in America. There are so many beautiful gems scattered all over its nearly 54000 sq. miles. Here are just a few activities that you and your bae/boo can do.

Nicholas Sparks-inspired tours

How can you think of ‘Romance’ and ‘North Carolina’ and not think of Nicholas Sparks? The world-famous romance novelist has set all his novels in NC.

This has brought a lot of attraction to many small towns. They have created unique tours for fans. These allow them to immerse themselves in the settings of their favorite novels. A very popular tour is the “A Ride to Remember” tour located in Beaufort. This tour is inspired by the novel of the same name. Couples can ride bikes through the tree-lined streets. There is gorgeous historical architecture to admire. The scenery really does make it a ride to remember!

Beaufort ranks as one of the most charming and beautiful towns. It is also one of the most romantic towns. Just exploring the town together is an amazing couple activity. The little cafes and souvenir shops hold many treasures just waiting for you.

Hungry Towns Tours also offers other tours couples can enjoy together:

The Elizabethan Gardens

The Outer Banks of NC is home to one of the most beautiful botanical gardens. Each season brings a new array of flowers, scrubs, and trees. There are several sites available in this garden and each one has its own character. From the Great Lawn all the way to The Queen’s Rose Garden.

This garden is home to many museum-quality Italian Renaissance sculptures. One of these sculptures is of Queen Elizabeth I. Take a slow stroll with your love and admire the vibrant colors. Tease your senses with the aromas and get lost in the craftmanship of the sculptures.

This garden is a very romantic setting to just get closer to each other. The Garden is even very popular for weddings wink-wink.

Beach Days

Get some sand between your toes, share ice creams, and listen to crashing waves together. From the matching bathing suits to teaming up for beach games to love notes written in the sand. Beach days are something a couple must do!

NC has so much to offer when wanting to explore the coast. Kitty Hawk is a small beach town, home to otters and turtles. Take a walk on Carolina Beach’s vintage boardwalk. It features an arcade to get your game on. You can also learn about seafood farming at the Carolina Beach Oyster Company.

Search for shells together or enjoy the day in the sun. Beach dates have a knack for turning into a tradition.

Twice as Nice Flea Market

If you are near Jacksonville, then take your partner for antique treasure hunting. The Twice as Nice Flea Market is located in the southern part of Jacksonville. This is a family-friendly location.

Shopping together is a sign of a strong relationship. Find items for your homes or spoil each other with unique gifts. The items are pocket friendly and I’m sure each has their own story to tell. So why not also add your love story to it!

White Doe Inn

A historic bed and breakfast in Manteo. The White Doe Inn is intimate and luxurious. Couples can come here to be pampered with its spa services.

Each room is uniquely decorated, making it feel more personal. Some baths have double whirlpools. Others have soaking tubs or oversized spa showers. There are gorgeous places on the property for couples to explore. Places such as private gardens, verandas, and porches.

Wake up next to your love and then enjoy a complimentary 4-course breakfast. The White Doe Inn is perfect for a romantic retreat with your special person.

The Castle on Silver Lake

This 3-story historic Colonial American mansion is located on Ocracoke Island. Guests staying at The Castle have a common living room, dining room, and kitchen.

Dolphin watching tour

Take a boat ride out on the Crystal Coast and interact with dolphins. Get close to these amazing mammals and take in the gorgeous ocean views. Experience that fresh sea air with your lover and just enjoy learning together.

Crystal Coast Ecotours

Crystal Coast Ecotours offers more than just dolphin-watching tours. Other options include:

  • Birding Tours – with over 400 species of bird identified in the area.
  • Fishing – Crystal Coast has a wonderful variety of fish to catch. Crystal Coast Ecotours provides all the equipment needed for your fishing adventure. There is also seining and cast netting.
  • Wild Horse Watching – if the deep ocean is not where you want to be, then get docked on Shackleford Island. Here you can watch wild horses roam free.

After getting accepted to ECU, I started looking for things to do in and around Greenville, NC. However, my searches kept taking me to places in South Carolina! There must be things to do around ECU, so I started asking other students. They kept telling me to graduate and move away! This inspired me to begin exploring eastern North Carolina and build this website as a showcase of the places to go, sights to see, and things to do all over eastern NC. I have fallen in love with this region and started taking up roots here. After graduating, I didn't move away - I bought a house here and continue to explore eastern North Carolina.
