Holidays At Tryon Palace

Christmas by candlelight is a holiday event that shouldn't be missed. It combines traditions from the 18th and 20th centuries. All while also bringing the two generations together! Candlelight is a magical holiday event that pleases spectators of all ages. The Tryon Palace Fife and Drum Corps is said to begin each night's opening ceremony in 2022.

You can take part in a variety of activities on the grounds before or after your tour. You can also explore other historically themed homes.

Food trucks on Pollock Street and vendors on the grounds both sell savory treats and tasty food! Alternatively, grab a seat and unwind with a beer or glass of wine at the King's Arms Tavern. Holiday Home Tour - Tryon Palace

The Tryon Palace hosts a holiday home tour. The tour sees the:

  • Stanly House
  • Dixon House
  • Commission houses

The tour is centered on the Christmas decorations and customs of the past.

A tour of the first floor of the houses is led by knowledgeable tour guides. They discuss holiday customs from the past three centuries with you. And also the unique items used in the decorations.

Each tour has a limited number of spots so be sure to check out their page for dates and times. Unfortunately, flash photography is not allowed. Tours may involve walking and climbing stairs. U.S. Capitol Christmas Tree

Do you want to celebrate the U.S. Capitol Christmas Tree? That came from the National Forests in North Carolina? Well then Union Point Park, located at 210 E Front St New Bern, is where you will want to be!

You get to sign the banners on the sides of the truck. And also "walk" through an interactive display. Consisting of the four national forests in North Carolina. But that's not all, you can also stay for:

  • Special appearances by Woodsy Owl and Smokey Bear
  • Buy U.S. Capitol Christmas Tree merchandise

This is a free event, so head on over and spend it with your friends and loved ones.

Beary Merry Christmas Kickoff!

The joy of the holiday season begins with the Beary Merry Christmas Kickoff. As well as the Annual Community Christmas Tree Lighting ceremony in Union Point Park. The celebration normally starts with:

  1. The lighting of the tree at dusk
  1. Followed by the Santa Parade
  1. The magnificent lighting of Bear Plaza

It is a much-loved event that has become a tradition for many families.

In the past, the lighting ceremony usually featured live music as part of the kickoff. Downtown stores also usually stay open late. That way, everyone can start their holiday shopping. This is a fantastic chance to do some local shopping and take part in the first holiday festivities! For this event, you will need to be at Union Point Park located at 210 E Front St, New Bern, NC!

Craven County Jaycees Christmas Parade

The Jaycees Christmas Parade in Downtown New Bern is an annual event! You can expect civic organizations, marching bands, themed floats, and maybe even Santa! Breakfast with Santa

The best season of the year is here! Usually, on the first Saturday in December, is Breakfast with Santa. Hosted by the CarolinaEast Foundation. It is an annual fundraiser for the organization and a holiday celebration for the kids. This is an amazing fundraiser. The CarolinaEast Foundation can carry out its mission of assisting patients and people. This is thanks to the money raised by Breakfast with Santa.

Oh and not forgetting, spending some one-on-one time with Santa. Mrs. Claus and all of their helpers is a real possibility! So head on over to 203 S Front St, New Bern NC
