Born on the banks of the Cape Fear River and having a river walk being voted number 1 in America. That can only be Wilmington, NC. With its southern charm and 21st-century vibes, this city is absolutely mystical.
Winter in Wilmington lasts for about 3 months. January is their coldest month with an average low of 38 degrees. Other months come in at under 62°F. As you can see, it is not that bad. So grab a hoody and let’s jump straight into my top 5 list of winter things to do near Wilmington, NC.

Here you get to see the creativity and skill of artisans of African descent during the 1800s.
This Mansion survived a disastrous fire in 1971 and lived on to become a museum in today's times. The Bellamy Mansion is now a fully functioning museum of design arts and history. They offer:

St. John's Museum of Art was established in 1962 in downtown Wilmington. After 40 years of entertaining the public, it out grew its space. In 2001, the museum was relocated to Independence and 17th streets.
A lady named Louise Wells Cameron was a volunteer at the St. John’s museum for over 35 years. Her husband, Bruce B. Cameron, served on the board as well. After a donation of the land the museum currently sits on the board felt it was time to change the name. The name was then changed to Cameron Art Museum.
Independence Street is home to historical events, namely the civil war. The museum grounds are lined with Confederate revetments. Those confederate revetments were built during the Battle of Forks Road.
Here you get to experience the artistry inside and historical events outside. The Cameron Art Museum commemorates the lives lost on its property. It does so with a re-enactment every year.

Well, at The Sailfish at Marsh Creek Marine you can do just that. Here they offer a stunning location where you can dine on the decks meters away from the water. It is also pet friendly, but I would keep my pets away from the water if they aren’t strong swimmers, the current appears to be quite aggressive.
