When it comes to the bars in Wilmington nothing stands out like Wrightsville Beach Brewery. With their knowledge of oysters and crafting beer. This wonderful outdoor seating brewery is a must-visit in North Carolina.
Being the eighth-most populous city in the state of North Carolina and is widely known for its seafood market. Wilmington is also the principal city of the Metro area which now includes the Pender counties and New Hanover.
Many years ago, founder and owner Jud Watkins was spending time with some of his friends when they thought to themselves, why didn't their hometown have a brewery of its own? With the confidence that they had the best oysters in the state, and their knowledge of how popular beer was in town. They had the idea to start brewing it themselves.
After a few experiments at home and learning what they need to do. They invested in the proper equipment to craft beer the right way. After several years, the three friends became one, with one, Jud Watkins, getting support from friends and his intelligent wife. He was able to brew quality beer and establish a team to help him deliver it.
Their mission? With the partnership of local charities to achieve sustainability for the environment. Not only do they want to be known for the amazing taste in beer, but to educate their customers about the environment along the way.
With their award-winning beer of 2020, here's a shortlist of brews to look forward to:
• Oysterman Stout: Dark ale using select roasted barley malts with overtones of coffee, biscuit, and cocoa.
• Piping Plover Pilsner: Brewed in the Bavarian tradition with Pilsen lager yeast and Saaz hops, a high-quality crisp beer with classic hops character and clean flavor.
• Shark & Stormy: This monster blonde ale is infused with dozens of pounds of freshly shredded ginger root! Only available during certain seasons.

Not only does Wrightsville brew beer, but they also serve delicious seafood for everyone to enjoy. Ranging from salads like Spring Mix, Quinoa, or Caprese salad. For the lunch entrees, we have Fish Tacos, Shrimp & Grits, and Veggie Pasta to name a few.
And, if you’re thinking about having dinner here, the brewery has also got that covered. With Chicken Mornay, Vegetable Pasta, and NC Fried Shrimp. To go along with their Brewpub Burger, or a few pizza meals to choose from, it's a full and tasty menu indeed.
If you do pay a visit here and can’t get enough of it, Wrightsville Beach has a brewery shop for all to enjoy. Here you can find Beer and Wine Dinner tickets, sweatshirts, long sleeves, hats, even candles just to name a few.
If nothing there doesn’t grab your attention or you wish, you can bring back the experience of the brewery, but you can’t. You can always purchase gift cards from this store to give to friends and family.
Wrightsville Brew Beer donates 11% of their proceeds from their “Beer of the Month” to a different partner each month for eleven months straight. Except for December where the small percentage comes from all the beers.
In 2021, they have partnered with Paws4People, Skywatch Bird Rescue, and Children’s Museum of Wilmington just to name a few. With many more partners, each is given a month and donated the proceeds from the beer of the month.
The barrel room is known for having a relaxed atmosphere to provide one the experience of enjoying a beer on the beach. However, this is designed to be a private venue and is ideal for family celebrations and holiday parties. Just be sure to book your private event early!
The people of Wilmington, North Carolina are raving about the brewery. Especially the beer and the seafood. To go along with that, they talk about the atmosphere and how well known the staff is about the craft beer they serve and the environment.
Lastly, the pizza is considered the best in town and their outdoor seating just adds another fresh experience to what they have already developed.
Once you had your fill of craft beer and amazing food. It’s recommended that you visit a few places in Wilmington. Known for its rich history, you can go visit the Children's Museum, which the brewery does support with their donations.
But if it's thrills you're after... then consider going to the nearby Jungle Rapids Family Fun Park. Where it's known for its water park thrill rides, but to go along with that, they also have a mini-golf course, rock climbing, laser tag, and go-karting to put some excitement into your family's day!
On the other hand, if you're thinking of something peaceful and relaxing, with some aquatic flair, then you can always visit the North Carolina Aquarium at Fort Fisher. Where you can enjoy a closer look at marine life around North Carolina.

After getting accepted to ECU, I started looking for things to do in and around Greenville, NC. However, my searches kept taking me to places in South Carolina! There must be things to do around ECU, so I started asking other students. They kept telling me to graduate and move away! This inspired me to begin exploring eastern North Carolina and build this website as a showcase of the places to go, sights to see, and things to do all over eastern NC. I have fallen in love with this region and started taking up roots here. After graduating, I didn't move away - I bought a house here and continue to explore eastern North Carolina.
